Exploring Creativity Through AI

How I built Trinetra without writing a single line of code, and what it taught me about being creative with AI.

I've always wanted to discover my creative side but never had the time or patience for it. Before AI, you first had to learn a skill, be it painting, guitar, sketching, or video editing, and even after that, making something took a long time. AI has made all of this much faster, and now I want to try a lot of things. I started with websites. The first was this blog, my first vibe-coded website, and the second is Trinetra.

The idea

I wanted to make a website dedicated to Lord Shiva, with three main ideas:

  1. He would be meditating, wearing a rudraksha mala.
  2. The mala would be interactive, and each bead would be clickable.
  3. The main one: as you scroll through the website, you go into his third eye.

I gave these exact ideas to Copilot with Opus 5.5.

Getting there

The first result wasn't good. Copilot used plain JS to make a cartoonish Lord Shiva. It did everything I asked, but the website just didn't look great.

So I searched the internet for inspiration and found some websites that used 3D modeling. I shared them with Copilot, and in the second attempt it switched to 3D. This time it looked even worse. Again, it did everything I asked, but the look was really bad.

Then I used ChatGPT to create some images of Lord Shiva the way I was imagining him, and asked Copilot to build something like those. And boom, this time it understood the assignment. The result was close to the final product.

After that, I worked on smaller things like the content, the favicon, and the animations, and cleaned up some extra stuff. That's Trinetra. I haven't even looked at the code.

What I learned

  1. Creativity is subjective. You need a vision, an idea, and taste for what you want to create.
  2. Details matter. You have to describe your idea to the AI in as much detail as you can. Copilot did everything I asked every time, but the result wasn't good because my prompts were missing a lot of details. The images filled that gap.
  3. Let the AI explore too. Creativity is also about exploring. Keep your main vision, but ask the AI to be creative too and give you different ways to get there. Then pick what fits your taste.
